Dr. Deepti Deshmukh
B.Sc., DMLT | Yoga Teacher | Animal Welfare Activist
Dr. Deepti Madhav Deshmukh is a dedicated animal welfare activist with over 27 years of selfless service to stray, injured, and abandoned animals. Every single day, she feeds nearly 350 stray animals and has provided free medical treatment to more than 22,000 animals, including dogs, cats, birds, goats, and other injured beings.
While she does not hold a formal veterinary degree, her decades of practical experience have equipped her with exceptional skills in animal emergency care. She has developed strong expertise in wound management, infection control, vaccination support, and even chemotherapy assistance for cancer-affected animals. Her hands-on dedication and compassionate approach have helped save thousands of lives.
In recognition of her outstanding contribution to social work and animal welfare, she was conferred with an Honorary Doctor of Philosophy (Honoris Causa) in Social Work by Dulce University, Kampala, Uganda, on August 19, 2022.
Her remarkable work has been recorded in the India Book of Records and the Asia Book of Records. She has received several prestigious honors, including the Nari Shakti Puraskar, Rotary Excellence Awards, and was honored at Raj Bhavan by the Governor of Maharashtra.
Beyond animal welfare, Dr. Deshmukh actively works in tribal welfare initiatives, healthcare support programs, and various community-driven social service activities. Her life stands as a powerful example of compassion, commitment, and service beyond recognition.
